I finished a WIP!

It’s underwritten (for you non-writers, that means it isn’t as long as it should be for a romance genre), but it’s finished! Tentatively titled BLACK CALLA LILY, I am excited to add another romance to my WIP shelf.

I already have a few idea of what I need to do to add to it. The ending is rushed and there are two chapters I need to add to the first act. But I’m excited to do my first read through and make more notes of changes before I let it sit for a few months.

This WIP is a dual timeline (meaning it has a past and present timeline) and dual POV (it is told from the perspective of two characters). The tropes I use is friends to lovers and second chance romance.

The story follows Lily and Daniel through their relationship, starting in high school, and how they reconnect in the present after a big fight.

My initial goal and the motivation for the idea of the story came to me after having multiple conversations with family about privilege. I wanted to write a story with one of the MCs having a leg up, while also enduring difficulties to show that you can have a hard time in life, yet still have privilege that others around you don’t. I’m not sure this is a message that I’ll be able to continue on, because as I wrote the story, it morphed into something different.

Once I do my first read through, I hope that I can find ways to add this in, or hone in on a different arc. Right now I’m worried I have a bit of a hodge-podge, thanks to taking a few months between writing sessions with this one. I started this back in April and took many weeks between writing this, which causes me to forget nuances I had added during each session, despite taking notes and keeping track of them.

Even though there is still much to be done, I’m going to celebrate this because it was one of the WIPs I wanted to complete before my writing time reduces significantly come March of 2023. Now to finish the three other ones I have started…
