First off, I’d like to set out a formal complaint of my Kindle linked to Goodreads. It will mark that I read a book, when I have only downloaded it to my kindle or perhaps opened the first page. It really messes with my reading goal for the year because once a book is marked “read” it doesn’t change from the total reading count.
*Any readers out there know how to help my predicament?*
Now to the good stuff– this is what I read in November. I’m putting it out a bit early because I don’t foresee finishing anything in the next two days that is not my own manuscript or the fulls I’m working through.
The first book I read this month was CHECK & MATE by Ali Hazelwood. This is her first YA so I went into it knowing there wouldn’t be the spice level I know from her (or any breasts fitting in someones mouth lol). But the tension was still high and she did such a good job setting the stakes from the beginning. You can check out my blog post about what I thought of the first chapters here. I really enjoyed it!
Next, I read my first ARC ever- thank you NetGalley! RULES FOR SECOND CHANCES by Maggie North had me staying up WAY too late to finish. And I had this very specific feeling I rarely get in books- it’s a tingling that sticks to my chest and almost feels like it’s frozen? (It’s weird, but it’s a sign that I’m affected by the story I’m reading). I had that feeling MULTIPLE times during this book. If you like second chance romances in a marriage– READ THIS!
Last, I read ANA MARIA AND THE FOX by Liana De la Rosa. This book does a great job setting up the series, giving good character building to all three sisters and building back story. I am excited to see what happens in the second book since De la Rosa sets up curiosity seeds WITHOUT leaving the reader on a cliff hanger. A delicate dance she does very well. I would say this is higher action level than Bridgerton series, but similarities could be drawn.
How was everyones reading month in November? Did you read any of these too? I’d love to discuss!
