March 2024 Reads

March was a tough month for me to get into books. Between losing a form of childcare and being on vacation (solo with two kids)….reading was out of reach. That being said here are some reads from March:

A FATE INKED IN BLOOD by Danielle Jansen was my first read which honestly feels like ages ago– how long was March? It was a great read and I loved the nordic vibes in it we haven’t seen a lot in romantasy. It had the angst, the payoff, and pulled heart strings to have me HOOKED! Great for those with hangovers from any romantasy book– this will satiate you!

THE WOMEN by Kristin Hannah. Holy smokes. THIS BOOK! There was a moment where I was a bit frustrated but it was because it was a VERY human experience and showing someone who was going through a case of PTSD. I think this story really needed to be told for the women in war, and the people that served in Vietnam. While reading it too, it made me realize while we all think the world is divided right now, it seems it’s been that way before (or always has been?). Anywho, very much recommend this if you’re in the headspace for a wartime story.

I FINALLY read THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES by Sangu Mandanna and I know viscerally understand what cozy means. This book gave me all the fuzzy blanket, delicious candle and hot beverage feels. And I really really loved the main character’s personality and the PLOT TWIST I did NOT see coming- whew! Not dramatic, but just very much not anticipated and well done. 10/10 recommend and cannot wait to read the next one!

Lastly, it was a sprint to the finish of this month with this book, but this was the book to do it! I thought this was going to be a trilogy, but I guess not (I’m still not recovered….). THE FATE OF THE SUN KING by Nisha J. Tuli was a great book to continue building the world and satisfying the slow burn that had built over two books. It was great to get in other characters heads and see more of the world. Nisha also has a way to have sentences sit with you, while also have relatable and approachable writing.Thank you NetGalley for the Arc, preorder it now (it comes out June 4).

Hopefully April I can get in ALL my pre-orders. This month is going to be STACKED with amazing reads and I have a inbox in QM full of amazing manuscripts. If you don’t hear from me, it’s because I’m deep in a hole of wonderful books. Don’t come looking for me either 😉
