If you follow me on my author Instagram @christinekellywrites, you’ll have seen I already posted my recap, so sorry this is a bit behind.
Generally, that’s the theme of the year so far for me– just a bit behind! I took the holiday break off mostly (I did do some *things* for upcoming news in agenting!), but to avoid burnout and also because I literally hardly had time, I mostly took time off from writing, agenting and any sort of work. But because of that, now I’m scrambling to catch up. Not to mention, right when I got home from Florida I got Norovirus and literally couldn’t look at a screen without throwing up…fun times.
But I really wanted to be sure I posted my December reads because first, it felt good to be able to read so many books. And second, I read some AMAZING stories!

My reads in December:
I listened to NOTHING LIKE THE MOVIES by Lynn Painter because I enjoyed the first book in this duology. Lynn has a great voice and this was a great step up from the high school sweet story to a fun college one. Loved seeing how the characters grew and changed!
I also listened to THE ART OF CATCHING FEELINGS, by Alicia Thompson. While this does have a bit of a deceitful concept by the FMC, I really didn’t mind it at all (just wanted to be blunt about it so everyone knows what they’re getting). The tension and chemistry were amazing and I loved reading about baseball!
My last listen of the year was DATING DR. DIL, by Nisha Sharma. Ya’ll, I know I am late to this, but what a romp! It was hot, fun, and sweet. Absolutely loved this story, the characters felt so real. Which also made the sex scenes while running….well….I had a runners high!
ASSISTANT TO THE VILLAIN by Hannah Nicole Maeher was a physical read for me and it is such a cool concept. And the world was really well done. I liked being in the head (from time to time) of a true Villain….even if I suspect he does it for good reason. It is a fun world to escape in!
THE MOST WONDERFUL CRIME OF THE YEAR, by Ally Carter was my first Ally Carter and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! It wasn’t overly holiday-esque, so I wouldn’t say you only need to read it during the holidays. And the mystery is not easy to solve. And as always, I’m a sucker for a “he falls first”.
Speaking of “he falls first”…. READY OR NOT, by Cara Bastone was absolutely delightful. I even made a post for it on socials because it is just SO GOOD. The voice. The humor. And tackling a trope that is often disliked and succeeding in making it enticing- CARA HAS WON. Not to mention Shep is my new ultimate book boyfriend.
I likely won’t have another good reading month like this in the near future– too many fulls to read, too much writing to be done. But I am glad I gave myself the time to read for pleasure before getting back into the busy-ness of life!
