I’m still in growth mode! Please know that this is not an exhaustive list and I am open to seeing many different things. My MSWL is a general guideline to my interests. I only ask that you please respect my triggers (listed below). Thank you!

Generally what pulls me into a manuscript is high stakes, a clear and concise concept that shows the story progression and character arcs. While the premise must stand out, the writing is what’s important to me.

My aim to uplift LGBTQ+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, etc. voices, especially those targeted by the current administration. If you took your rage to page, let me see it.

What I’m really keen on finding:

• Messy family narratives- think Bad Moms x Succession type of stories
• Non-fiction projects from experts in their field and niche projects that you wouldn’t think of that you can do deep dives on.
• Non-fiction on cultural highlights right now: Spots & Fashion! Trader Joes!
• Weird! If you think your book has a bonkers premise, think of me!
• Female friendship at the center, through new motherhood turbulence and hard marriages, the friendship persists. Perhaps even coming back from a friendship breakup. 
• Rich people being bad. But with a true sense of justice at the end where the bad behavior is punished. IE: The orcas sink the billionaire’s yacht.
• Marine biologist romance.
• Graphic novels for MG and young readers! Would love something in the vein of Ninjago.
• I want a commercial suspense/thriller novel where the twist feels earned and isn’t easy. That the signs were there all along, but meticulously placed the reader didn’t realize where the arrows were pointing. 
• Wreck me. Specifically with bookclub fiction, historical, and contemporary romance. Make me cry. I want to be on the floor sobbing. (I’m not being dramatic.)
• Book club fiction about a person being applauded for a heroic event, but are they really “good”? Taking on themes of our societal expectations of those who become famous for doing something good or cool, but they’re actually kinda jerks. Bonus if it’s suspenseful. 
• I want a book that makes you grab the person next to you and ask “have you read this? Can we talk about it for the next 2-5 hours” after bingeing it in 2-5 days. (I wanted to do this with THE PUSH and THE COMPOUND.) 
• Emotionally mature relationships. Queer joy. Communication with real tensions and real problems (but not dark). Ie: Episode 3 of Heated Rivalry. 
• Nonfiction self help with family and boundaries, communication and finding your own village. 
• Anything about being an eldest daughter, the psychology behind it, and their impact in the world. 
• Deep dives of unexplored lore.
• Deep dives into the metamorphosis of drinking culture and millennials and subsequently the opposite with Gen Z.
• The link of capitalism and weddings from the history (how it changed with Queen Victoria etc).
• Still searching for non fiction on how our food is made and our food ecosystem from growing, storage, manufacturing, etc.
• Horror: from camp to psychological, gimme it all. I specifically (hang with me here), would love a cannibalism horror romance.
• Dystopian: gimme gimme gimme.
• Dark romance
• I’m open to seeing work by previously published authors looking to publish in a hybrid model.

Ready to query me? Here are a few things I look out for in manuscripts:

• Be sure it’s been beta read and through rounds of edits
• Do you know what show don’t tell means? If not, do a pass for showing versus telling (here is a great resource).
• Have you wanted to learn more about line level writing? Check out CeCe Lyra’s webinars. She has a great class on line level writing.

While I’m trying to keep my MSWL less niche, I do want to provide a few of my favorite things so you can understand my taste.

Favorite tropes/micro-tropes:

• They “hate” each other, but one will die for the other.
• They’re meant for each other, but can’t be together. Soulmates, but if they’re together the world will end.
• Single parent stories. But I want truly authentic representation of how hard it is without the village we were falsely promised.
• Genuine Love Triangles– and I’m open to why choose.

Favorite TV shows (some specific episodes) & movies (would love these as one of your comps!

• Fleabag Season 2
• Heated Rivalry episode 3
• The OC New Years episode
• Pride & Prejudice
• Bend It Like Beckham
• Anatasia & Tangled (because to me, these hit the same part of my heart)
• True Blood
• Tarzan (but if I see something, I want the new concept to be rid of the rooted racism and colonialism in the original works).

I am not the best fit for memoir, police procedurals, inspirational, erotica, portal fantasies, or anything dealing with the drowning of a child on page. I respect when authors reach out to clarify this trigger, but if you’re questioning it, it’s likely not the best fit.
